Move a deal forward

How to prepare a purchase contract

Move agreed business terms into a document that can be carefully reviewed.

The outcome

Prepare a draft with correct parties, property details, amounts, and terms for appropriate review.

Before you start

  • Have the proposed purchase terms and correct legal party names.
  • Know which property and contract type the transaction requires.

The workflow

Work through it

6 steps
  1. 01

    Start from the correct property

Open the relevant property and its available contract or document action. Confirm the full address and unit before using prefilled details.

  2. 02

    Choose the appropriate document

Use the contract type that fits the property and transaction. A residential, commercial, or other template is not automatically suitable simply because it can be generated.

  3. 03

Verify the buyer and seller information

Review legal names, entity names, contact information, and any prefilled account details. A display name is not necessarily the party’s legal name or the person authorized to sign.

  4. 04

    Enter amounts and dates carefully

Review the purchase price, deposits, deadlines, financing terms, and other requested fields. Check the displayed comma-grouped amounts and decimal values after entering them; do not assume a default is an agreed term.

  5. 05

    Review the complete draft

Read the generated document, including contingencies, inclusions, conditions, and signature requirements. Resolve blanks, conflicting terms, and jurisdiction-specific questions before sharing it for signature.

  6. 06

Keep the reviewed version with the deal

Use the document and sharing controls available in the workflow, then check Documents and the closing workspace as appropriate. Track signatures and deadlines separately from merely generating a draft.

Worked example

Catch a party-name error early

Your account profile uses your personal name, but the intended buyer is an LLC. Correct the buyer’s legal entity information and confirm signing authority before sending the document for review.
